Terms of Service
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You must provide an accurate date of birth, have legal capacity to accept these Terms and must not use the service where doing so is prohibited by applicable law.
2. Your account and security
Your registered email is your private sign-in identity. The service assigns a permanent 10-digit account ID for permissions and account controls. Keep your password and sign-in methods secure, complete required verification, keep your account information current and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been used without permission. You are responsible for activity through your account to the extent permitted by applicable law.
3. Your content and limited licence
You retain ownership of content you post. You grant Meecat a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, create technical thumbnails or previews of, transmit, display and distribute that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service and to make the content available according to your selected features and settings. This licence does not transfer ownership to Meecat and ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except for limited backup copies, legal preservation and content already shared by others where continued retention is lawful. You must have all rights, permissions and lawful bases required for everything you upload.
4. Copyright, trademarks and other rights
Do not upload or link to material that infringes copyright, trademarks, image rights, privacy, confidentiality or other rights. Rights holders may submit a notice through Contact us identifying the protected work, the exact URL or item, the basis of the claim, their contact details and a good-faith accuracy statement. We may remove or disable access to material while reviewing a notice, notify the affected user and accept a counter-notice or appeal where required by law. We may restrict or terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe rights. Submitting a knowingly false or misleading notice may have legal consequences.
5. Acceptable use
You must follow the Community Guidelines. Do not post illegal, deceptive, abusive, exploitative, infringing or privacy-violating content; impersonate others; manipulate ratings, locations or engagement; send spam; collect data by unauthorized scraping; evade restrictions; introduce malware; or interfere with service security or operation.
6. Community and Places information
Board, Share, Moments, profiles, messages, ratings and reviews may contain information supplied by members. Places listings and associated text, locations, images and links may be supplied or verified by authorized administrators, rights holders, licensors, public sources or other third-party sources. Information may be incomplete, duplicated, inaccurate, outdated, unavailable or assigned to an incorrect category or location. Unless expressly stated, it is not official advice, an endorsement or a guarantee by Meecat. Verify important details—including identity, address, opening hours, price, availability, safety, accessibility and travel requirements—with the original or official source before relying on them. 7. Places filtering and ranking
Places first filters available listings using the country or area, category, province or state, city or area and search words selected by the user. Active paid placements may appear ahead of unpaid listings according to an assigned promotional rank. Within equivalent positions, recency and stable technical tie-breakers may be used. Places order does not by itself indicate official status, quality, popularity, safety or suitability. We may test or change ranking parameters, but will update this explanation before making a material change to the main parameters where required by law.
8. Ratings and reviews
Ratings and reviews express the opinions of their authors and should be considered together with the number, date and content of available reviews. We do not guarantee that every review is accurate, representative or free from attempted manipulation. Members must describe genuine experiences, disclose material commercial connections where required and must not offer or accept incentives for deceptive reviews. We may remove reviews that violate these Terms or applicable law.
9. Advertising and paid placement
Advertising and paid ranking placements are identified with a clear label such as “Sponsored” where they appear. Payment may affect placement but does not mean that Meecat guarantees, endorses or independently verifies the advertiser, claim or listing. Advertisers are responsible for the legality and accuracy of their advertising and any required disclosures.
10. Moderation, notices and appeals
We may reduce visibility, remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts or terminate accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, respond to a sufficiently detailed notice, comply with law or maintain service integrity. We may use automated signals and human review. Regional administrators are limited to assigned countries or areas and administrative actions may be logged and audited. Where appropriate and legally required, we will provide the affected person with the reason for a decision and an available appeal or complaint route. A notice should identify the exact URL or item, explain the concern and include enough information for review.
11. Payments and third-party services
Any payment, wallet, gift, advertising or third-party service is subject to the additional terms shown when it is offered. Unless a specific written product term says otherwise, Meecat is not a bank, escrow provider, travel agent, marketplace intermediary or party to arrangements made between members and third parties. External websites, embedded services and providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Do not send money, credentials or sensitive information merely because someone uses Meecat.
12. Availability, backups and data preservation
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the service and maintain operational backups. However, no online service or storage system can guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation or permanent preservation of every item. Keep an independent copy of content and records that are important to you. We may change, suspend or discontinue features and may remove corrupted, unlawful or unsupported data. Backup copies are used for disaster recovery and expire under a rolling retention schedule; they are not an archive available for individual restoration. Nothing in this section limits obligations or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Safety and reliance
Meecat does not verify every member, listing, event, rental, sale, route or claim. Exercise independent judgment, check official sources, meet in safe places and follow local law. Meecat is not an emergency service and does not provide legal, medical, financial, immigration, safety or travel advice.
14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as available” without implied guarantees beyond those that cannot lawfully be excluded. Meecat is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from use of or inability to use the service where such liability may lawfully be limited. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury where it cannot be excluded, or any mandatory consumer, privacy or other statutory right.
15. Ending your account
You may request account deletion from your profile. The service uses a 30-day recovery period before active account data is deleted or anonymized, subject to legal preservation, fraud prevention, dispute handling and the backup retention described in the Privacy Policy. We may retain the minimum records needed to document the request and comply with law.
16. Changes, governing terms and local rights
We may update these Terms when the service, our practices or applicable law changes. Material changes will be posted with a new version and effective date and, where required, notified or presented for renewed consent. These Terms are governed by the law stated by the operator, but this choice does not remove mandatory protections available under the law of your usual country of residence.
